§ Subtleties
Duzen vs. siezen
"duzen" = address with du, "siezen" = with Sie. The switch from Sie to du is a social ritual; traditionally offered by the older or senior party. Workplaces today increasingly default to du.
Großschreibung in Briefen
In personal letters "Du/Dich/Dir/Dein" are sometimes capitalized as a mark of respect. The 1996 orthography reform made this optional, but many writers still do it.
