Grammatisches Geschlecht ≠ biologisches
A stumbling block for Russian speakers: "der Löffel" (spoon) is "er", not "she". Grammatical gender follows the article, not the real-world sex or the translation. "Das Mädchen" (girl) is grammatically "es".
