"aus" = where you're from: "aus Deutschland". "von" = where you're coming from right now: "von der Arbeit". Don't confuse: "Ich komme aus Berlin" (I'm a Berliner) vs "Ich komme von Berlin" (I'm coming from Berlin right now).
